Below is the process to apply for a driving license in Nepal:

  1. First, fill out the online driving license form.
  2. Then, visit the transport office to submit your biometrics and necessary documents.
  3. Take your Written exam (Likhit Exam).

  5. Finally, once your license is ready, pay for the license fee and receive it.

After successfully submitting an online license form, you must pay a Rs.500 application fee (Fee for the Written Exam) at your transport office. If you fail to pay on time, then your application will not be accepted.

To apply for an online driving license and choose a date for Biometrics, follow the steps below.

  1. Sign In to the Driving License System Page
  2. Click on Apply for a Driving License
  3. Read and check the “Terms and Conditions.”

  5. Select your Province and nearest Transport Office

First, sign in to the Department of Transport Management’s website; if you have not yet created it, visit DOTM Nepal’s Driving License System to open and verify your profile, address, and identity.

This is an important step because if you have not updated your profile correctly, you will face problems after submitting the online application form.

Second, after verifying citizenship and updating your profile and address, your online registration form to apply for the New Driving License option in your profile will be visible. Click on that.

4. Select the Category (Vehicle you want to Drive)

Once you find your preferred date, click on “Apply.” An OTP (One-Time Password) will be sent to your mobile phone for confirmation.

This is the last step of the Online Driving License Registration Process. Please take a moment to review and confirm all the details you have submitted. Once you are sure everything is accurate, click the “Submit” button to proceed.

Click the Pay Now button, download the voucher, print it, and visit the transport office you selected above to pay.

Online payment is now available for selected locations only. For now, you need to visit your selected office for payment.

The submitted form will be canceled if the personal details like name, citizenship details, mobile no. and date of birth, and license category(ies) for add category are found incorrect.
